Unfortunately, the lake got off to a difficult start this season due to extended warm, sunny weather in November and December and was never able to fully recover. Repeated freeze–thaw cycles led to the development of weak ice areas, and runoff during those warmer periods created currents that have prevented consistent refreezing.
We were hopeful that the stretch of single-digit overnight lows during the weekend of January 24-25 would improve conditions, but it did not. With the upcoming forecast calling for multiple sunny days with highs in the upper 30s to upper 40s, there simply isn’t enough time or sustained cold weather for the lake to safely repair itself.
After continued monitoring and careful consideration, and in the interest of safety, we have made the decision to cancel all remaining Arctikhana events for the 2026 winter season.
We want to sincerely thank everyone who has been part of the Arctikhana experience — drivers, passengers, partners, and supporters alike. While this season didn’t unfold as hoped, we truly appreciate your understanding and continued support. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the ice in 2027.
